Costanza Gastaldi

Costanza Gastaldi is an Italian artist and photographer. She lives and works in Paris. She studied at the École des Gobelins, then went on to do a master’s degree in Arts and Literature at the Sorbonne, graduating with honours in 2017.

From then on, she divided her time between her artistic research and the organisation of her photographic expeditions. Her wanderings stretch from the North Pole to the Yellow Mountains and the Amazon Rainforest. Following her many journeys, which she likes to define as “sentimental geographies”, Costanza’s exhibitions have grown from strength to strength, evolving towards more immersive works that touch on our senses and hijack the photographic object.

The artist is currently represented by Novalis Art Design gallery (Hong Kong), and TASTE gallery (Geneva).

Despite her young age, the artist’s work has already been shown on numerous occasions at international fairs such as Shanghai Photo Fair, Fine Art Asia, Ink Asia, PAN Amsterdam, Haute Photography, Art Paris and Art Genève.

Costanza was also artist-in-residence at: Festival Planches Contact in Deauville, Les Amis de Marc Aymon residency in Switzerland, Les Amis du Manguier residency at the North Pole as well as the residency instituted by Photodays and Yandé in Brazil.

Her series have been the subject of solo and group exhibitions, including ‘Alba Alata’ at Novalis Art Design (Hong Kong); ‘Loto Nero’ at Galerie Catherine et André Hug as part of the Photo Saint-Germain festival (Paris), “Land Escape” at Kahmann Gallery (Amsterdam), “Woman by Woman” at Kahmann Gallery (Amsterdam), “New Collectibles” at Kahmann Gallery (Amsterdam), Festival Planches Contact (Deauville), ‘Sylvan Reliquary’ at Novalis Art Design (Hong Kong), “Color Rebirth” at galerie Bruno Moinard Édition (Paris), “Photography in ink” group show with BERENICE ABBOTT and ROBERT MAPPLETHORPE at Penumbra Foundation (New York), “From Light to Dark” at Taste (Geneva), “Oro Negro” at atelier PGR (Paris).
