MARCO BAGNOLI
(Florence, Italy, 1949)
Marco Bagnoli with a scientific background and a degree in Chemistry, has worked on the international art scene since the second half of the 1970s. In 1981 he exhibited a large installation in the Villa Medicea La Ferdinanda in Artimino. Since then he has created a series of installations in spiritually and historically important places in Florence. In May 2017 he opened the Atelier Marco Bagnoli in Montelupo Fiorentino: a multifunctional space that the artist conceives as a total work of art. Since 1972, the space has also hosted a constantly evolving exhibition of the artist’s work. Bagnoli participated in the Venice Biennale (1982, 1986, 1997), in documenta 7 and 9 in Kassel (1982, 1992), and in Sonsbeek in Arnhem (1986). He has held numerous solo exhibitions at art institutions, and his works are present in prestigious museums, from the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome to the Centre G. Pompidou in Paris.
