GIACOMO MOOR

(Milan, Italy, 1981)

Giacomo Moor began to work in a carpenter’s workshop at an early age. During his years at the Politecnico di Milano, under the guidance of professor and architect Beppe Finessi, he started to couple rigorous planning with his fascination for the beauty and versatility of woodworking. In 2011, after majoring in Design with a final dissertation on wood called “Valuable Imperfections. Cabinetmaking, from sculpture to design” published by Abitare, Giacomo Moor opened a studio with his partner Aurelie Callegari. Moor designs and manufactures unique, customized and limited-edition pieces for private clients, architects, and companies, as well as collaborating with various design brands. In 2016 he was nominated Best Young Designer by Elle Decor Italia for EDIDA Elle Decor International Design Award, and was awarded the Best Young Designer Prize at the Salone del Mobile in Milan. The following year he won the Wallpaper Award with his Kit del Legnamé.
