Studio Nucleo

Studio Nucleo is a collective of artists and designers based in Turin (Italy) since 1997. Led by Piergiorgio Robino, designer and functional artist, his practice is known for its experimental approach to material research and development and for being somewhere at the intersection between the art, architecture, furniture and design sectors.

Studio Nucleo is interested in narratives and storytelling, and they do so by bridging the gap between past, present and future. They handcraft their pieces in thier Turin atelier, exploring ancient artisanal techniques and materials and modulating them through contemporary technologies.

Pioneers in resin work have been refining their techniques for almost twenty years. Their work has appeared in numerous digital and print magazines such as Wallpaper*, Domus, Architectural Digest, ICON, Sight Unseen, Bloomberg, and The Wall Street Journal.

Studio Nucleo’s projects have been exhibited worldwide, like the Design Museum, Gent; Museu Nacional do Conjunto Cultural da República in Brasília; Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh; Centre d’Art Contemporain, Genève; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris to mention a few.

Their artworks are part of the permanent institutional collections, like the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Triennale Design Museum in Milan, Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, to mention a few. “Souvenir of the last century stool” won the MiArt CEDIT Art Prize in 2018 in the section “Object”, dedicated to the design projects and collectors’ items.
