«After the end of Memphis, I felt a deep need for authenticity, for warmth of expression, and for the
joy of creating and thinking about design beyond the constraints of the market and industrial production.
And so, together with Sybille, my wife, we started Produzione Privata».

Produzione Privata, founded in Italy in 1990 by Michele De Lucchi and Sibylle Kicherer, represents a unique approach to design. Born from a desire to explore design outside the constraints of mass production, the company collaborates with artisans to create limited-edition objects. Their work emphasizes the value of handcrafting, the inherent qualities of materials, and a commitment to experimentation. Produzione Privata believes in a thoughtful, human-centered design process, creating furniture, lighting, accessories, and more that transcend mere functionality.

Each piece tells a story, inspired by architecture, art, and the rich tradition of artisanship. The company embraces an open, collaborative approach, where even “mistakes” can lead to new creative discoveries. This philosophy results in objects that are unique, unrepeatable, and imbued with a sense of meaning. Their collections include customizable furniture adaptable to various spaces, innovative lighting that blends traditional materials with modern technology, and thoughtfully designed accessories that explore the essence of form and material. Limited editions showcase Michele De Lucchi’s experimental designs, pushing the boundaries of creativity.

Operating within the creative ecosystem of AMDL CIRCLE, Produzione Privata benefits from the contributions of architects, designers, and artists. The company’s close relationships with skilled artisans are essential to their process, bringing expertise and passion to every project. Produzione Privata’s creations are more than just objects; they are a celebration of collaboration, human ingenuity, and the enduring power of handcrafted design.

Encouraging craftsmanship, we give ethical value to the work and the intelligence of the hand that forges, mixes, engraves, threads and moulds. Together with the artisans, we feel we are participants in an aware action.
